System Requirements

Item Requirement
Operating system iOS 26.1 or later
Core features (photos, cut-out stickers, word recognition, speech) Available on every device that can install the app
Translations, example sentences, and chat practice Requires a device that supports Apple Intelligence

Models that support Apple Intelligence: iPhone 15 Pro / 15 Pro Max, the entire iPhone 16 line (including 16e), iPhone Air, and the entire iPhone 17 line.

Models that don't (they can still install the app and use the core features): all iPhone 11 / 12 / 13 models, iPhone 14 and 14 Pro models, iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, and iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation). Note in particular that iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 (non-Pro) are not supported — those two are the easiest to get wrong.

Getting Started

  1. On first launch, pick two things: your "My Language" (the language used for the interface and translations) and your "Learning Language" (the one you want to learn). You can change both at any time in Settings.
  2. Go to the Learn tab and tap Take Photo or Choose from Library.
