1. Scope and Summary
1.1 This policy applies to the iPhone app "CapPal" (the "App"; its name is the same in every language). The App is provided by KUANG-TSAN HOU (the "Developer") and requires iOS 27 or later.
1.2 The App captures audio, recognizes it on the device as source text, translates it into translated text, and shows it as subtitles in the system floating subtitle (Picture in Picture) window above other apps. In summary:
- The Developer does not collect, receive, store on any server, sell, share, or use for tracking: audio, screen content, subtitle text (source text and translated text), device identifiers, location, contacts, or usage analytics.
- The App has no account, no advertising, and no third-party software development kit (SDK).
- Captured audio is processed in memory only. It is not saved as a file and is not uploaded by the App. For the temporary audio of Sample mode, see Section 3.
- Settings, glossary entries, and the subtitle history that the user chooses to turn on (text only, off by default) are stored only on the user's device.
- The only artificial intelligence (AI) the App uses is Apple's models built into iOS and running on the device. The App integrates no third-party AI service; see 2.4 and 2.5.
- The App sends no audio or subtitle content: recognition and translation run on the device. The Developer has no server and receives none of this data.
- Language model downloads, usage metrics of the translation feature, and purchases and subscriptions are Apple system services that the Developer does not control. See Section 6. For how an email sent to the Developer is handled, see Section 12.
1.3 This policy does not say that no data can ever leave the device. The App itself sends no audio or subtitle content. The Apple system services described in Section 6 are exceptions, and they are described honestly.
2. Data the Developer Does Not Collect
2.1 The Developer does not collect:
- sound played by other apps (audio);
- screen content and images;
- subtitle text, including source text and translated text;
