Effective date: October 21, 2026 Applies to: SubTrim for macOS, all versions Published at: https://loving-cheek-eec.notion.site/SubTrim-Privacy-Policy-3c9b70e791d78002bb73e823f5db4c68
SubTrim collects nothing. It has no account system and no analytics. Your video, its audio, the transcript, and everything you edit stay on your Mac. Nothing of yours is uploaded, and nothing needs to be — there is no server on the other end, because we don't operate one.
SubTrim makes exactly one kind of network request, and it carries nothing of yours: the purchase screen asks Apple for the current plans and prices. That is the whole extent of it.
You can verify the rest yourself: turn off Wi-Fi and import, transcribe, translate, summarize, edit, and style normally, and export too once SubTrim is unlocked. None of those needs a connection.
SubTrim is developed and published by KUANG-TSAN HOU, Taipei, Taiwan. For anything in this policy, write to [email protected].
This policy covers the SubTrim application for macOS, distributed through the Mac App Store. It does not cover the App Store itself, which is operated by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy, nor any other software you may use alongside SubTrim.
Everything below happens locally on your Mac and stays there.
| What | Where it lives |
|---|---|
| The video and audio files you import | Wherever you keep them. SubTrim reads the file you select and writes nothing back to it. |
| Transcripts and captions produced by recognition | Inside the project package you create |
| Translations and summaries produced on your Mac | Inside the project package you create |
| Your edits, markers, and caption styling | Inside the project package |
| Font files you import for captions | Registered with the app only. Not installed into the system, and not copied anywhere else. |
| Preferences (interface language, default and favorite recognition languages, preview quality) | The standard macOS preferences store for this app, inside the app's sandbox container |
| Bookmarks to the files and folders you chose — your source media, your export folders, fonts you imported | Inside the app's sandbox container, or inside the project package for media references. They exist so that reopening a project or exporting again does not ask you for permission a second time. They record locations, never contents. |
| Waveform data, thumbnails, proxy media, and recognition resume points | A cache directory that the system may reclaim, and that you can clear at any time |
SubTrim is a sandboxed application. Its only file-access permission is for files and folders you choose in an open or save panel. It cannot read anything else on your Mac.
SubTrim holds one network entitlement — com.apple.security.network.client — for one purpose:
StoreKit needs it so the purchase screen can ask Apple for the current products and prices. That
request contains no content of yours, goes only to Apple, and is handled by Apple's own
frameworks. It is the only network activity in the app.
Concretely, that means:
